Biography
Five years ago, I drove from St. John's, Newfoundland to Prince George, British Columbia to follow my dreams and become an archaeologist. I am currently in my 6th season with Norcan Consulting Ltd., a Cultural Resource Management firm that focuses on forestry-related industry projects based out of Prince George. In February of 2020, I was granted Field Director status within the Interior Plateau Culture Area from the Archaeology Branch of British Columbia. When I am not running crews or working in the office, I enjoy spending my time looking for surface finds and exploring nature with my significant other, Alisha, and my dog, Lupin.
MA Research
I intend to investigate the relationship between the presence of traditional use sites (TUS) and the distribution of archaeological sites within the Prince George Natural Resource District. My research will include field survey and excavation, predictive modelling, use of GIS software, and many hours of archival research. Specifically, I intend to develop a TUS database of known and suspected cultural heritage trails and culturally modified tree (CMT) sites, which will lead to more strategic planning options for proponents and Cultural Resource Management companies.
Other Activities
Whether it is having a bonfire and a few laughs at a nearby lake, or helping each other out with yard and housework, it's all about good people and good music.
