Biography
I graduated from Thompson Rivers University in 2022 holding a Bachelor of Natural Resource Sciences degree. Later that year, I started working for an Indigenous owned and operated consulting business as a heritage technician doing surveys and shovel testing at a large copper mine. A couple months after making my entry into the CRM field, I transferred to an office-based role where I was frequently reviewing permit reports associated with the CRM work taking place at the mine. It was in one of these reports that I found the inspiration for my research topic. Having figured out that I would much rather be outside doing the work instead of reading about, I transferred back to a field-based role for the summer before moving here.
Research
My research will involve further investigation of a paleosol that was found at one of the archaeology sites at the Highland Valley Copper Mine. I hope to use the artifacts found, previous paleoenvironmental analysis, and traditional knowledge all together to determine how the people may have coexisted with their environment and what their day-to-day life might have been like in this early post-glacial time period.
