Launched in September 2010, The Hakai Network for Coastal People, Ecosystems, and Management is the result of a partnership between Simon Fraser University and the Tula Foundation. The Network is a dynamic, multidisciplinary research team, which will play a significant role in conducting research, training, and educational initiatives in support of sustainability and conservation in Coastal British Columbia, with a focus on the Central Coast.

Working across disciplines including marine, freshwater and terrestrial ecology, resource policy and planning, archaeology and statistics, SFU researchers and First Nations collaborators will study ecological and social sustainability and implement ecosystem-based management.
