Lorne Segal appointed to the Order of Canada
SFU’s Beedie School of Business is proud to celebrate Lorne Segal on his appointment to the Order of Canada, one of the country’s highest civilian honours.
Segal is being recognized for his visionary, detail-driven leadership in landmark real estate development and his enduring commitment to community service, including leadership in major mental health and youth empowerment initiatives. His impact reflects a lifetime dedicated to building stronger communities through both business and philanthropy.
As president of Kingswood Properties, Segal has played a significant role in shaping British Columbia’s real estate landscape. Beyond his professional achievements, he is widely recognized for his philanthropic leadership and longstanding commitment to advancing education, health, and community well-being.
At SFU, that legacy is reflected in the Segal Graduate School, home to its graduate business programs. Segal's transformational support has helped expand access to business education while strengthening SFU’s ability to develop future leaders and changemakers.
Through this longstanding partnership, Segal has helped create opportunities for students to thrive—equipping them with the skills, perspectives, and confidence to make meaningful contributions in their careers and communities.
His appointment to the Order of Canada is a fitting recognition of a lifetime of achievement, service, and impact—both within British Columbia and across the country.
SFU Beedie extends its sincere congratulations to Lorne Segal on this well-deserved honour.
