Presidential Search 2019-2020
Professor Andrew Petter's second term as President ends on August 31, 2020.
SFU is currently undertaking a process to select its next President.
The process began in January, 2019 and is expected to take approximately 12-15 months.
Fall 2019 Update
Since the release of the job description and candidate profile, a number of qualified individuals have shown serious interest in the position. The committee will conduct interviews with candidates later in the fall of 2019.
The search is proceeding as planned and the Presidential Search Committee remains on-track to announce a new President in early 2020.
Spring 2019 Update
From March 15-April 14, the Presidential Search Committee engaged in robust consultations to gather input to help shape the position description, which has been made available to all potential candidates. During that time, the SFU community was invited to participate online or in person in this important process.
During the consultation, approximately 1,100 members of the community shared their input at in person events, through email and the online survey. A number of stakeholders and partners also provided their input.
The input received from the drop-in events and online survey helped shape the candidate profile. The privacy office has completed its review of the information provided and a small amount of information has been redacted to protect individuals’ personal information in accordance with their privacy rights under the British Columbia Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy Act.
