TERMS OF REFERENCE

Goals:

Members:

All employees, students, alumni and retirees of Simon Fraser University are eligible to join. To become a member an individual just gets involved. All members are invited to all meetings and are encouraged to initiate and take responsiblity for activities and events.

Chair:

There will be a chair responsibile for calling meetings, preparing regular reports to the President and the VP/Chief Development Officer and supporting and assisting the membership.

Responsibilities:

The membership through a variety of informally constructed groups and subgroups, and with appropriate support from the office of University Advancement is currently responsible for:

  1. Activities at University Community Events
    • Robbie Burns day
    • downtown/uptown relay
    • annual bar-b-q

  2. Campus Beautification
    • benches
    • arboretum

  3. Campus Community Bursary Endowment Fund
    • readings at Robbie Burns day
    • pledges for downtown/uptown relay
    • plant sale
    • auction at bar-b-q
    • Renaissance coffee club (98/99)

  4. Supporting and advising University Advancement on the Annual Campus Campaign which will include: recommending on themes/goals/recognition to support the March three-week focussed campaign and , where appropriate, participating.

The events indicated above in each category are not necessarily permanent. It is expected they will change over time, with new events being added and old deleted. It will depend entirely on what the members decide (collectively and individually) they are going to do in any given year, and on who we find to join us and the events they might bring with them.

Communication:

The CC will communicate through an e-mail list (and probably sublists for the subgroups taking responsibility for particular projects).

Meetings:

There will be a meeting of members about once a month at the call of the chair.

Reporting:

There will be an annual report for the President and VP/Chief Development. Whenever possible there will be articles in SFNEWS the Peak and elsewhere.
