Preparing Your Basket


1. Choose a theme and register it with Susan Walter at 3750 (see "Suggestions for You" for ideas".
2. Ideas for containers: woven straw basket, waste paper bin, laundry basket, gift wrap covered box, or use one of the gifts themselves: dog bed for pet theme, mixing bowl for baking theme, laundry hamper for bed & bath theme, popcorn bowl for movie theme — use your imagination.
3. Quantity: at least six or eight items, but as many as you wish!
4. Value: $30 and up; the more people who contribute, the less it costs each person.
5. Display the empty container on your front counter or central desk, together with this notice, to encourage department participation (avoid theft by locating it where it can be watched, and lock it up each evening).
6. Source of items: garage sales, your basement, recycled gifts, dollar stores, handmade items, gift certificates, nearly new items in good condition, give your time as a service; non-perishable goods only, please. No alcoholic beverages and no living plants.
7. List of contents: on a giant package tag, tied to the finished basket. Contact Gloria Asmundson (3210) to obtain a tag.
8. Packaging: transparent cellophane or plastic wrap so that all items are visible.
9. Department prizes will be awarded. Watch for more information in the coming weeks.
