Community Conversation Series

About the project

The Centre for Comparative Muslim Studies hosted a series of community conversations on what it is to be Muslim in the Lower Mainland. The events were small gatherings of individuals in order to build relationships and unpack the experience of having complex Muslim identities in our current context. The conversations were not intended to be centred on Islam, or theoretical and religious perspectives, but rather a dialogue centred around people's lived experience. A graphic artist presented at each dialogue and generated a graphic recording of the conversation that maintained the anonymity of the participants and was shared with the wider community afterwards.
