Join us this Friday for the opposite of doomscrolling

Stop doomscrolling and start design jamming.

What's on this week

Join us this Friday for the opposite of Doomscrolling.

Since March the Covid-19 pandemic has left a great many of us physically distancing in our homes, engaging in the ritual of “Doomscrolling”—endlessly skimming through news and social media feeds. Each night ends the way the day began, with an endless scroll through social media in a desperate search for clarity. Doomscrolling has never been harder to resist, despite the anxiety it’s sure to induce.

We want to offer you a different path to feel like you’re in control and can make a difference.

The world is a big place and impacting local communities is something you have the power to do via the SFU Student-Community Engagement Competition (SCEC). You can work with fellow students, alumni, and community organizations to register your idea for the chance to win $3000 by December 4th!

Not sure how to get started, who to work with, or how to develop your idea? Join us this Friday, Nov 13th 3PM-4:30PM for the SCEC Design Jam!

Register for the SCEC Design Jam!

The SCEC Design Jam is your chance:

  • To meet peers with common interests about community engagement.
  • To brainstorm and share ideas to address issues the community.
  • To develop project proposals for the Student Community Engagement Competition (SCEC).

Once you sign up on the Eventbrite page, you will be emailed the Zoom link for Friday’s session.

I'm Ready To Jam!

If you're a current SFU student, you will be credited with additional time towards your Co-Curricular Record by attending this Design Jam.

*SFU students and alumni are welcome to attend and take advantage of this workshop!
