CEE Mission
To collaborate with SFU’s learning and teaching community to inspire and support innovative, inclusive and reflective teaching approaches that create engaging learning experiences for students.
What we do
Our vision will continue to evolve, but when we ask ourselves what success over the next five years might look like, this is what we see:
- To achieve this mission, we facilitate workshops, provide individual consultations, online resources and access to educational technologies, facilitate online course production, support the assessment of teaching and courses, and design custom programs to meet the needs of departments and Faculties.
- We build capacity for innovative, student focused teaching and learning at SFU by leveraging the CEE team’s knowledge of research-informed teaching, learning and curriculum design; expertise in student focused assessment and methods of teaching inquiry, decades of experience in facilitation, and deep understanding of diverse pedagogical approaches and teaching technologies.
- Our programs are designed to engage instructors at all stages of their teaching careers, from teaching assistants and instructors new to teaching, to educational leaders who pursue teaching inquiry and serve as mentors to peers in their departments.
- Teaching innovation happens in community, through exchange of ideas across disciplines, through peer mentorship and conversation.
CEE Vision
Our vision will continue to evolve, but when we ask ourselves what success over the next five years might look like, this is what we see:
- An institutional culture that values and celebrates teaching excellence
- A teaching environment that embraces experimentation, innovation and risk-taking
- A teaching community whose members feel connected and supported in their work
- Instructors who feel equipped with the knowledge, teaching approaches and technologies to excel in their teaching, assessment, curriculum design and educational leadership roles
- Academic units that have the tools to design and offer innovative programs and learning experiences that are relevant to SFU’s diverse students and their communities
