Learning and Teaching Technology

Biography

I am the director of the Learning and Teaching Technology division of CEE. In this role, I work with four LTT units in building stakeholder relationships with Faculties, Departments and instructors across the SFU’s campuses to understand their educational technology needs and work with partners such as SFU Enterprise IT, to develop, design and provide ongoing training and support educational  learning and teaching methods and systems. From pencils to pixels, I am really enjoying my role with the LTT division, as it provides a range of services from graphic facilitation to the development of interactive and immersive media solutions.

I earned my BA in classical music and theatre studies from the University of Alberta and my MFA from the School for Contemporary Arts at Simon Fraser University. In my former role, I established and directed Emily Carr University's Teaching and Learning Centre, a centre that supported curriculum design, delivery, assessment and professional and personal learning, in the classroom and online. In this role, I developed a multimedia production unit staffed by students and staff that developed one of BC’s first completed 360 VR panoramic campus tours and which produced hundreds of video productions for the university. In a previous career, I worked as a designer and programmer on many new media projects with Vancouver artists and in professional theatre as a lighting and sound designer, technician and composer.

I represent and advocate for Simon Fraser University in teaching and learning networks across BC which includes serving on the Executive Committee of the British Columbia Teaching and Learning Council (BCTLC) and formerly on the ETUG Steering Committee (SCETUG) and BCNET Conference Programming Committee.
