CEE commemorates the 32nd National Day of Remembrance and Action on Violence Against Women

2021 marks the 32nd year since the gender-based killings of 14 female students at L’Ecole Polytechnique de Montréal.

This December, the Centre for Educational Excellence joins other members of the SFU community to commemorate the National Day of Remembrance and Action on Violence Against Women. In-person memorials to remember and honour the victims of this tragedy and recommit to ending gender-based-violence will be held on December 6:

  • 12:30–1:30 p.m. Convocation Mall (Burnaby Campus)
  • 11:30 a.m.–1:30 p.m. Mezzanine (Surrey Campus)

Faculty members and instructors can play an important role in encouraging students to reflect on issues like gender-based violence. CEE has created a downloadable handout called “Classroom Approaches to Honouring the National Day of Remembrance and Action on Violence Against Women” (PDF), which outlines how faculty members and instructors can speak about this day in their classes.
