The opening plenary at the Fall 2019 TA/TM Day included presentations by the Teaching Support Staff Union, the Office of Graduate and Postdoctoral Studies, the Indigenous Student Centre, and a host of other groups that serve students.

SFU's 34th Annual Fall TA/TM Day took place this year on an extraordinarily sunny September 6. The 175+ new and returning graduate students who came out for the event spent the day sharing teaching advice and ideas, meeting new colleagues and, of course, enjoying a free lunch. But don’t take our word for it—check out the photos ...

Workshops at the Fall 2019 TA/TM Day introduced students to a wide variety of skills, approaches and tools—ranging from Canvas features to inclusive facilitation—designed to help them shape the undergraduate student experience at SFU.

Students greeted the presenters with smiles …

… and lots of great questions.

Seasoned facilitators Dasha Gluhareva (linguistics) and …

… Kelli Finney (linguistics) offered a highly attended workshop on active learning …

… that focused on fun and diverse ways to get students to apply course concepts in their tutorials.

One of the highlights for many participants was the beautiful view from the Diamond Alumni Centre patio, …

… made even sunnier by the company of good friends …

… and the opportunity for great conversations!
