CELLTR-ISTLD grant funds post-entry language assessment (PELA) for first year engineering students

CELLTR Faculty Liaison, Amanda Wallace is collaborating with Senior Lecturer, Mike Sjoersdma from the School of Engineering Science to design a post-entry language assessment for first-year engineering students at SFU. Amanda and Mike are designing an instrument that will assess reading comprehension skills. The data from this research will help students better understand their strengths and weaknesses related to academic language and literacy skills while informing the instructional teams’ development of language and writing support. The data will also be used for accreditation purposes.
