Event Communications

It is important for event organizers to provide clear and consistent information about COVID-19 to reduce risk, reinforce any current public health measures (e.g. hand hygiene, social distancing) and reduce misinformation.

At this time, in-person gatherings are permitted with limited capacity and relevant safety precautions as outlined by the provincial government.

Safe Work Plan is required for in-person meetings and gatherings organized by Meeting, Event and Conference Services (MECS).

Response to enquiries about in-person events

Thank you for reaching out. SFU continues to monitor the COVID-19 situation closely and we are committed to protecting our students, faculty, staff and community.

At this time, the province has lifted the Provincial State of Emergency and gatherings of limited capacity are permitted. We understand not everyone feels equally about the resuming of in-person events. Please know that SFU continues to closely follow the public health orders and guidelines to ensure a safe environment for all students, faculty, staff and community.
