A message from Evon Khor, Undergraduate Advisor:
I have the pleasure of announcing the following students who have won the Summer 2019 Chemistry Undergraduate Research Presentation Awards for their work presented on August 13 and 14, 2019. The department will contribute towards travel and conference expenses ($500 each) when they present their research at a recognized conference.
Margaret Hurst presented her Chem 481 work titled " Self-assembly of Columnar Liquid Crystals from Nonplanar Molecules" (supervisor: Dr. Vance Williams).
Kaitlin Branch presented her NSERC USRA work titled " Investigating the Biological Activity of Ruthenium Cymene Complexes Bearing Substituted Phenol Benzimidazole Ligands" (supervisor: Dr. Charles Walsby).
Ian Chagunda presented his NSERC USRA work titled " Development of Bimetallic Ruthenium Complexes for Targeted Anti-Cancer Activity" (supervisor: Dr. Charles Walsby).
Honorable mentions also go to past winners, Danaan Cordoni-Jordan and Ana Sonea.
Danaan presented her Chem 481 work titled " Determining the Feasibility of Photochemical Production of Free Radicals in Clathrate Hydrates" (supervisor: Dr. Paul Percival) and Ana presented her Chem 484 work titled " Molecular Catalysts for Electrochemical Reduction of CO2 to CO" (supervisor: Dr. Jeffrey Warren).
Excellent work to all of our presenters!
