Kathleen Prosser wins the 2020 CCUCC Chemistry Doctoral Award

Dr. Kathleen (Kate) Prosser is the winner of the 2020 CCUCC Chemistry Doctoral Award for research carried out at Simon Fraser University under advisor Charles Walsby. Sponsored by the Canadian Council of University Chemistry Chairs (CCUCC), the CCUCC Chemistry Doctoral Award is presented to recognize outstanding achievement and potential in research by a graduate student whose PhD thesis in chemistry was formally accepted by a Canadian university in the 12–month period preceding the nomination deadline.

While completing her PhD, Kate received both an Alexander Graham Bell Graduate Scholarship and a Vanier Canada Graduate Scholarship to support her work. She was also the recipient of the 2019 Award for Graduate Work in Inorganic Chemistry presented by the CSC Inorganic Division. Her PhD thesis focused on the use of spectroscopic tools for the evaluation of copper complexes for anticancer applications.
