Slack channel for SFU communicators

SFU Communications and Marketing is creating a Slack channel for all SFU communicators to try and reduce the number of group emails.

The main goal of the channel is to help cutdown on the number email requests to share content. Those requests should be made on the slack channel, preferably with a vault or google doc link to the social kit and the assets you’d like shared.

The channel will also act as a community forum, for anyone seeking answers or help with challenges. A caveat: Communications and Marketing will not be actively monitoring the channel, so questions to our team or service requests should still go through the proper channels.

The slack channel will also be used as a conduit for information sharing and for important updates to things like the brand refresh and new visual identity as they rollout. It won’t replace the communicators’ blog or newsletter.

If you’d like to be included on the new channel, please email me jdhodson@sfu.ca with the email address that you’d like to have added. We’ll compile the list and send out the invite in the coming days. If you’re not already using Slack, it can be downloaded or accessed from your browser at slack.com.

One thing that may be of interest: You can set up Slack to send you email notifications when their is activity on the channel. If, for whatever reason, you don't want to actively monitor the channel, you can go into preferences and turn the email notifications to on.
