Reach your audience with an op-ed
March 13, 2020
Looking to get media exposure for an SFU expert?
Consider pitching an op-ed, or opinion piece, to a local or national news organization. An op-ed lets an expert speak to a specific audience in their own words. The best op-eds take a firm stand, are backed by fact-supported arguments, and offer a unique perspective on current topics of discussion.
A recent example is this op-ed by Thomas Gunton (School of Resource and Environmental Management) in the Globe and Mail. Among the outlets you may want to consider are The Conversation (any edition), Medium and Eos.
Read SFU’s op-ed guide here. And read more about the current state of the op-ed here.
