Amyn Rajan is a software industry veteran with a passion for supporting the community and encouraging gender balance in the technology sector.
As president and CEO of Simba Technologies, Amyn leads a highly skilled team of more than 80 people, developing data connectivity and analytics software for some of the world’s leading software companies including Microsoft, SAP, Tableau, and Teradata.
Amyn has more than 20 years’ experience with industry leaders like Microsoft Corporation and Adobe Systems. Prior to this, he developed global electronic banking software for HSBC Canada, serving a portion of his tenure in Hong Kong. In 2007, he was recognized as one of Business in Vancouver magazine’s Top Forty Under 40.
Under his leadership, Simba Technologies was awarded the 2010 BCTIA Award for Excellence in Product Innovation for its MDX Provider for Oracle OLAP software product, which helps simplify business intelligence analysis and reporting.
Amyn has made philanthropy an integral part of Simba Technologies’ corporate culture. The company supports many community-focused charities such as the United Way and the Aga Khan Foundation’s World Partnership Walk, which raises funds to fight global poverty.
In 2011, Amyn was appointed co-chair of SFU’s Faculty of Applied Sciences External Advisory Council. His personal endowment award with SFU, with a valuation of just over $111,000, disburses more than $4,000 a year, providing two scholarships of $2,000 each for women in computing science. Amyn is interested in initiatives that will strengthen the B.C. technology community and increase gender diversity in the technology industry overall.
