On Tuesday, July 17th 2007, Computing Science along with other programs welcomed a group of aspiring young Aboriginal students to join us at Simon Fraser University (SFU) to explore their academic options and learn about some of the programs offered at SFU.  These students are a part of the Pesk’a Aboriginal Shad Valley Program that provides Aboriginal students with an opportunity to learn about their post – secondary options in a culturally appropriate format. Based on the philosophical principles of the sacred Medicine Wheel (i.e. balancing the areas of physical, emotional, spiritual and mental harmony), the Pesk’a program acknowledges and honors the important role that culture and traditional knowledge play in the lives of program participants.  The students enjoyed a 30 minute presentation on Computing Science that was filled with games and activities based on some of the principles of Computing Science.
