Application Fees

All applicants to SFU are required to pay the University application fees. Aside from this, there are no additional application fees for Dual Degree Program applicants.

Program Fees

All undergraduate Dual Degree Program students admitted to SFU as their home university are required to pay a $700 program fee in the Fall term of each year until the completion of the Program. The program fee is separate from the tuition fees.

Tuition Fees

Dual Degree Program (DDP) students with Canadian citizenship:

  • While studying on SFU campus: Pay tuition fees at domestic rates based on the total numbers of credit hours enrolled
  • While studying on ZJU campus: Pay tuition fees at domestic rates equivalent to 10 credit hours
per semester based on the SFU semester system

DDP students with international student status:

  • While studying on SFU campus: Pay tuition fees at international rates based on the total number of credit hours enrolled
  • While studying on ZJU campus: Pay tuition fees at domestic rates equivalent to 10 credit hours
per semester based on the SFU semester system

Note: International students will therefore be saving on tuition fees while studying abroad in China.

DDP students taking intensive Mandarin courses are required to enrol in the Summer Immersion Program in the first Summer in China before regular academic studies begin in September. The cost of the Summer Immersion Program is covered by the Dual Degree Program.

Payment Options

While studying on SFU campus: Paying by internet banking is the most convenient method of paying your tuition fees.

While studying on ZJU campus: You will be still registered at SFU for the period you are studying in China. While you are away, you will be formally registered at SFU and are considered a full-time status SFU student for the purposes of applying for financial aid and student loans.

Tuition fees for all years of the Program are therefore payable directly to SFU, with no tuition fees payable to ZJU for your convenience. Upon receiving your tuition fees for the years studied abroad in China, SFU will wire transfer your tuition fees to ZJU three times a year based on the SFU semester system.

To continue paying SFU via internet banking while overseas, please make sure that you deposit enough funds in your checking account while you are away in China.

Note: The ZJU academic terms overlap two SFU semesters, i.e. Fall/Winter term (春夏学期) begins in September and ends in January, Spring/Summer term (秋冬学期) begins in March and ends in July, thus you will be registered for 10 credits per semester at SFU, which is equivalent to full-time student status if you were at SFU.

Additional fees
All students studying at SFU are required to pay a small sum in Supplementary Fees (also known as Ancillary Fees), to contribute towards life on campus. However, these fees will be reduced to a minimal level for DDP students while in China.

Fee deadlines
Tuition fees and all other fees due each semester must be paid by the SFU published deadlines.
