Six faculty members recognized at inaugural FCAT Research Excellence Awards

The Faculty of Communication, Art and Technology held its inaugural Research Excellence Awards on December 12, 2018 at the Diamond Alumni Centre. The event brought together faculty and staff from FCAT’s schools and programs to recognize six researchers for their outstanding work. 

The awards are adjudicated by a university-wide panel and are part of a larger initiative to promote research excellence across the university, FCAT’s Research Excellence Awards recognize individual and collaborative contributions to excellence in innovative, interdisciplinary and community-engaged research and research creation. All recipients received funding to support innovation in public access to research and research creation.

  • Research Mentorship - awarded to a faculty member who has demonstrated excellence in mentoring early career faculty. 

Adel Iskandar, Assistant Professor, School of Communication 

  • Making Research Knowledge Public- awarded to a faculty member who has demonstrated excellence in making research outcomes and insights public and/or in engaging new communities with scholarly or artistic work.

  • Emerging Researcher- awarded to a faculty member who has demonstrated excellence in their early-career research.

  • Community and Participatory Research- awarded to a faculty member who has demonstrated excellence in research co-creation.

Ker Wells, Assistant Professor, School for the Contemporary Arts 

  • Distinguished Researcher- awarded to a faculty member who has made an outstanding contribution to their field of research or research co-creation.
