MechExpo 2014 a success at SFU Surrey

February 17, 2014

On February 4 the Mechatronic Systems Engineering Student Society (MSESS) held its first annual Mechatronic Systems Engineering Career Expo. Throughout the daylong networking event, students from Mechatronics and other SFU Surrey programs met with representatives from several high-tech companies, including APEGBC, Samsung, SNC-Lavalin, Andritz Automation, BC Hydro and Powertech – who also sponsored the event.

Companies set up exhibition booths in the Mezzanine at the SFU’s state-of-the-art Surrey campus, to showcase their cutting-edge technology and engage with students from the School of Computing Science’s Software Systems program, the School of Interactive Arts and Technology, and the Beedie School of Business. BC Hydro is also set to hold a more in-depth information session following the career expo.

This was a great occasion for students to discover various co-op and career opportunities, gain networking experience and create connections with prospective employers. Members of the MSESS, which currently represents over 500 students, were on hand to mingle and facilitate interaction with industry representatives.
