APRIL STUDY TIPS

Focus: online final preparation

Day of: Test your computer!  Make sure your internet is up and running at least 15 minutes before your exam.  Check your auto-updates to see that everything is postponed until after the exam.  Therefore, the week before: run your updates. You don't want any surprises during the exam.

Have a separate timing device in with you.  This can be a portable kitchen timer, a clock, your cell phone if allowed by your instructor, a watch, etc.  You don't want to rely on toggling screens on your exam device to know how much time you have left or what you have spent on a particular portion.

Earplugs or noise-cancelling headphones.  You're not going to be listening to music, but blocking out traffic/family/pets, etc.

Sign for door(s).  Make up a sign: DO NOT DISTURB. FINAL EXAM IN PROGRESS UNTIL (TIME) (ON DATE).  Ideally you will have your own room with a closed door to take the exam.  If not, stick to the back of your chair.

Notify whomever you live with beforehand that you are not to be disturbed for any reason during X - X hours.  Depending on your living situation, you may have to re-emphasize this quite a bit - this includes no helping siblings/older relatives, no answering the door/phone, no vacuuming/audbile gaming/audible playing/audible TV/audible radio, no singing, etc.

Good luck!
