Fees

Effective April 1, 2018 fees are:

Access fob/card

Staff, faculty & internal dept use   $20 non-refundable fee - paid by requesting department
Students, visitors & contractors $20 non-refundable fee

Door key

Staff, faculty & internal dept use $10 non-refundable service charge - paid by requesting department
Students & visitors $20 deposit  + $10 non-refundable service charge
(requesting department responsible for the service charges)
Contractors $100 deposit  + $10 non-refundable service charge (low risk keys only)
(requesting department responsible for the service charges)
Deposit may be waived if an Access Device Agreement is signed and authorized
by Campus Public Safety and Facilities Services

Cabinet/desk key

$20 non-refundable fee (new) or $5 non-refundable fee (copy from sample)

Policy & Procedures:

As per university policy AD 1.04, individual users are responsible for applicable deposits.  Requesting departments are responsible for all service charges associated with key/card issues - contractors may be required to pay this charge.

  • All room keys have a $20 deposit for internal users, unless waived.
  • In Burnaby, contractors are responsible for a $100/key deposit, unless a key contract is signed and authorized.
  • Departments, students, contractors and visitors purchase cards/fobs for a $20 non-refundable fee.  
  • There are no deposits charged for desk or cabinet keys.  
  • Deposits (in the amount originally paid) are refundable upon return of the key, card or fob (for those with deposits).  
  • The requesting department must provide an account code to cover the service charge.  
  • Service charges are not refundable.
