The Simon Fraser University Pipe Band “easily gave our best performance of the year” on Glasgow Green this afternoon at the World Pipe Band Championships, says Pipe Sergeant Jack Lee.
“It was exactly what we wanted. I’m feeling incredibly good about our performance and our chances,” says Lee. “But we must give two excellent performances and right now that’s our goal.”
The band completed its March, Strathspey and Reel before a packed grandstand, with SFU President Andrew Petter in the crowd. Despite a forecast of intermittent rain, the sun poked through as they played.
The band returns at 4:25 p.m. Glasgow time to give a second performance, the medley. The final results of the Grade 1 contest are expected following the mass bands march, between 6 - 7 p.m. Glasgow time, around 11 a.m. Vancouver time (note that times are approximate).
