Weather permitting, the Simon Fraser University Pipe Band will hold its final practices tonight at SFU’s C-parking lot (north side of campus) and tomorrow night near the Horizon’s Restaurant at Burnaby Mountain Park. Both will start at 6:30 p.m. and provide opportunities for the public to watch the band.

The 46 members travelling to Scotland leave Friday and will spend a week in Stirling, about an hour outside of Glasgow, where they traditionally hold daily practice sessions and fine-tune their performances for the World Bagpipe Championships, held this year on Saturday, Aug. 13.

They recently took firsts in competitions in Portland and Seattle and have been practicing through July in anticipation of the Worlds. They are looking for their seventh championship next week.
