Simon Fraser University and the WE CAN Coalition are partnering to bring the Atlantic Ballet production of ‘Ghosts of Violence’ to Vancouver. The ballet is centred around the theme of domestic violence against women, and will be held over two nights, December 1-2, 2011, in the Fei & Milton Wong Experimental Theatre at SFU’s Goldcorp Centre for the Arts.
The official launch of Ghosts of Violence will take place on Thursday, November 3, at 10:30 a.m. at the Djavad Mowafaghian World Arts Centre at the Goldcorp Centre for Arts, where representatives from SFU, the Justice Education Society, the Ending Violence Association of BC and the Vancouver and District Labour Council will be on hand to take questions from the media. There will also be a short dance performance by SFU’s School for the Contemporary Arts.
Ghosts of Violence will include ancillary programming of talks, discussions and workshops to build community capacity around addressing the serious issue of domestic violence against women.
