Are you a newcomer to Canada looking for information, resources and employment? Join us for a free resource fair and career workshop at our Surrey campus on October 21. Presented by SFU, Back in Motion, and the Immigrant Employment Council of B.C., this day of learning is designed to connect you with the information and resources you need to find work in your field of interest.

This resource fair for newcomers is taking place as part of Surrey Newcomer Employment Week to provide a wealth of resources for you in one place. Participating organizations will all be focused on assisting newcomers to align their skills with local opportunities.
Keys to Career Development for Immigrants
11:00am – 1:00 pm
In this free career development workshop for newcomers, we'll provide practical information, advice and tips on advancing employment in your field of interest. Sessions will be delivered by inspiring immigrants who have established successful careers in Canada.
Workshop topics will include regulated and non-regulated jobs, credential evaluation, and best practices for taking advantage of networking and employment opportunities at job fairs. In addition, employment consultants will offer specific advice for newcomers who have worked in the following fields: information technology, finance, education and nursing. You will also have the opportunity to speak one-on-one with employment consultants after the group session.

- 11:05 am – 11:30 am: Regulated vs. Non-Regulated Jobs and Credential Evaluation
- 11:30 am – 12:00 pm: Tips and Tricks to Shine at Job Fairs
- 12:00 pm – 12:45 pm: Small group industry breakout sessions: Information Technology, Finance, Education and Nursing
- 12:45 pm – 1:00 pm: Closing Address, One-on-One Sessions with Employment Counsellors (optional)
