Randall MacKinnon, the SENIORSage for MackINNOVATION, has served in various roles and positions for a diverse range of innovative local, national and international service organizations since 1970. He has extensive volunteer and professional experience in the fields of mental health, innovation and training. As a social entrepreneur, he initiated ThoughtLeadersDigest.com. He has moderated over 300 cafés in 18 venues since 2003, including youth cafés, seniors cafés, documentary cafés and book salons.
Randall holds bachelor's degrees in both psychology and community organization development from the University of Calgary and a master's degree in social policy and planning from UBC. His particular areas of interest include idea generation, innovation, dialogue, appreciative inquiry, problem-solving, creative living and learning, and governance. He is a member of the board of 411 Seniors and a past board member of SFU’s Seniors' Lifelong Learners Society.
About the Philosophers' Café
Philosophers’ Café is a series of informal public discussions in libraries, cafés and restaurants throughout Metro Vancouver. The cafés, which are open to everyone, have brought dialogue and discussion to thousands of people who are interested in exploring issues from the absurd to the sublime.
