Alex Fu has over 20 years of experience working actively in the legal, business, community and medical sectors as an interpreter and translator, as well as experience in conference interpreting on various themes.

He translated and published in Chinese the bestseller Kitchen Confidential, by Anthony Bourdain, in 2004 and Grace – An American Woman in China in 2006. He was also the translator of the simplified Chinese version (2010) of the Newcomers’ Guide by WelcomeBC.

He has taught Chinese at Capilano University and in Hong Kong to undergraduate and adult students, and has been a legal translation instructor in the Legal Interpreter and Translation Certificate program at SFU since its inception.

Alex graduated from Beijing Language and Culture University, majoring in teaching Chinese as a second language. He also completed the advanced interpreter and translator education diploma program at SFU, and the certificate program for court interpreters and health care interpreters at Vancouver Community College.
