Penny Freno is a career coach and educator with a background in career development, employment counselling, and job development and placement. From her own career-life transitions and her work with diverse adults and youth in higher education and community service organizations, Penny gets what it takes to navigate a complex, uncertain and ever-changing world.
Collaborating with her clients to look within themselves for answers to big career-life questions—to identify future possibilities and strategies in order to create client-driven, confident and informed career-life choices—excites Penny.
Penny is currently an associate with CareerCycles and a career educator with Career and Volunteer Services at SFU where she supports students and alumni to figure out what matters to them and how they want to be in the world. She also teaches Information and Computer Research in SFU's Career Development Practitioner program. Her "former lives" include stints in program development and management, event planning, educational fundraising, public relations, entrepreneurship and self-employment.
She holds an MA (Leadership and Training) from Royal Roads University, and a Holistic Narrative Career Practitioner designation. She is also a Certified Job Club Facilitator.
Penny is a community gardening enthusiast, and fond of films, good books and cooking. She loves spending time with her grown children, their partners, her grandson and friends.
