Beverley Pitman has a PhD in Urban and Regional Planning and Development from UCLA. Her career spans a number of firsts (e.g. municipal energy conservation planning, green campus auditing, ‘Cascadian’ research, seniors-led community planning tables, the CD-inspired non-medical home supports known as Better at Home). She was a faculty member at SFU’s Department of Geography in the 90s and early ‘00s. Currently, she is responsible for Vancouver, Richmond and the Poverty Reduction file, as well as the Seniors Portfolio at United Way of the Lower Mainland, where she works with older adults, the community sector, government and others to improve seniors' quality of life.
