Orville Nickel has been involved in various law enforcement and public safety roles throughout his entire professional career. Orville holds a doctoral degree focused on criminal justice, and he has studied the critical factors that contribute to police use-of-force decisions. Use of force in the public service can be a contentious issue when citizens are injured, impacting public confidence in the criminal justice services. Orville's research raises important questions and discussion topics, to be explored in his Liberal Arts and 55+ Program courses.
