Darcy Riddell leads the instructional team for the Social Innovation Certificate and is the director of strategic learning for the J.W. McConnell Family Foundation. She has spent 20 years advancing sustainability and social change as a campaigner, strategist, process designer and facilitator. She recently completed a PhD in social innovation/social and ecological sustainability at the University of Waterloo, where she researched strategies for catalyzing and scaling innovation in complex systems.
Riddell consults with non-profits, businesses, social enterprises, universities and governments, offering capacity-building tools for internal transformation, innovative group process and strategic social impact. She recently co-designed and taught in the Rockefeller Foundation’s inaugural Global Fellowship Program in Social Innovation. She also spent seven years as program director and lead consultant at the Hollyhock Leadership Institute, convening and training change agents from across North America.
Riddell has worked as a forest campaigner with Sierra Club and ForestEthics and is currently involved in creating Vancouver’s first co-housing development.
