Karin Reinhold

Instructor
Legal Interpretation and Translation

Karin Reinhold was born and raised in Germany and knew from an early age that languages and travel were her passion. Her education focused on translation and interpreting studies and her travels eventually landed her in beautiful British Columbia.

She is a dedicated language professional with over 20 years of experience in legal, medical, technical and commercial fields who helps non-English and/or non-German individuals bridge the language gap by providing high-quality and accurate translation and interpreting services in German and English.

She earned her BA in translation in Germany and her master’s degree in education (ESL and curriculum design) from Simon Fraser University and is dedicated to the professional training and development of interpreters and translators.

Karin’s work as the program coordinator of the interpreting certificate programs at Vancouver Community College enabled her to gain extensive teaching and curriculum design experience in the fields of interpretation, translation, professional standards and best practices. She has spoken at conferences, presented at workshops and seminars, and served as a consultant to court interpreter regulatory bodies and training entities.

As an advocate for the advancement of the translation and interpretation profession in Canada, she served as president of the Society of Translators and Interpreters of British Columbia, and as registrar and director-at-large chairing the education and certification committees. For many years, she was also on the board of directors of Critical Link International, an international non-profit organization committed to the advancement of community interpreting in the social, legal and health care sectors.
