Kate Sutherland is a founding instructor with SFU’s Social Innovation Certificate program, as well as with SFU’s Evaluation for Social Change and Transformational Learning Certificate program. She was also founding faculty and an executive coach with THNK School of Creative Leadership (Vancouver).  

As a consultant in community and organizational change, she has worked for over 30 years with non-profits, private-sector organizations and governments at all levels and on issues as diverse as food security, social inclusion, community currencies, early childhood development, liveable cities, and storytelling as a way of reporting outcomes. Her current focus is co-founding the Emerge Collaboratory to demonstrate the potential of transformational approaches to effect deep systems change.

Kate studied economics at the University of Sussex in England, did postgraduate work in political economy and has worked for policy think tanks. Her latest book, We Can Do This! 10 Tools to Unleash Our Collective Genius, makes accessible the wisdom and insights from 10 key frameworks used by professional facilitators and consultants for transforming groups, systems and self.
