Gerrie Wagner

Instructor
Interpretation and Translation

Gerrie Wagner believes that a passion for languages is all about promoting cross-cultural communication, mutual respect and eliminating misunderstanding.

She realizes her dream by working for a number of educational institutes and non-profit organizations, on dozens of language and cultural projects, bridging East and West. As a contracted translator and interpreter, as well as a writer and editor, she has worked with BCIT, SFU, Langara College, the Coquitlam School District, Canada Wood, the B.C. Courts and many more.

Gerrie also served on the board of the Society of Translators and Interpreters of B.C. for four years, helping translators and interpreters of dozens of other languages in B.C. to pursue the same goal. She views her teaching position in the Interpretation and Translation Diploma program at SFU as the perfect opportunity to share her knowledge, skills and experience with more people who share the same values.

When not working, Gerrie’s greatest interest is in travelling and meeting people from different backgrounds. She enjoys music, dancing and the arts, which for her is the “lingua franca” of the entire world.
