John Walker has practised law for over 26 years and has been employed as Crown counsel with the Public Prosecution Service of Canada since 2003. He started his work as a lawyer in private practice in 1995 before becoming a provincial prosecutor in 1997.

Presently, John primarily conducts appeals in the British Columbia Court of Appeal and the Supreme Court of Canada. He also provides advice to other prosecutors and to police officers who are involved in major investigations, as well as training to other prosecutors and the police. He is a regular guest presenter in SFU’s Interpretation and Translation Diploma program and in criminology classes at Douglas College. He also developed the Canadian law course for the Legal Interpretation and Translation Certificate program at SFU and has taught it since 2014.   

John is also an SFU alumnus, having graduated with a bachelor of arts degree in criminology in 1991. He obtained his law degree in 1994 from the University of Victoria.
