Location update: In-person courses have been moved to online delivery through August 31, 2021.
We offer this program twice a year:
|Courses||Five required courses, including the Leadership in Action course|
|Learning materials||No textbooks are required for this program. We will recommend readings for each course.|
|Tuition & Payment||Tuition is based on the total cost of individual course fees. You may choose to pay as you go, but your seat in a course is not reserved until we receive your payment.|
|Application fee||$75 (non-refundable)|
We accept qualified students on a first-come, first-served basis, and will continue to accept applications if space permits.
We only hold a select number of seats for certificate students. Since the program can fill quickly, we recommend applying and registering for your courses early.
|Online||Sep 2020–Jun 2021||Apply online|
Courses feature a wide variety of instructional techniques, including individual and group exercises and discussions. You’ll work through the program with a cohort—a diverse group of leaders—with whom you can share experience, ideas and expertise.
Coursework: What to expect
This certificate is university-level. You’ll complete pre-readings and in-class exercises for each of the courses. You’ll also complete practical assignments for each course.
In the online courses, you will set your own coursework hours, following posted assignment and discussion timelines. Through our online learning management system, Canvas, you will be able to connect with your classmates and instructors.
To receive the Executive Leadership Certificate, you must successfully complete all courses within a three-year period.
Take individual courses
If you’re not ready to take the Executive Leadership Certificate, you may still register for most courses individually if space is available. You can register directly or add your name to a waitlist if the course is full.
If you register for our online courses, you’ll access the online courses through Canvas, our learning management system, which is available through the SFU website. Canvas is extremely user-friendly—even if you’ve never studied online before. All you need is a computer with an Internet connection.
You will receive course details and Canvas access instructions on the first day of the course. You can check if your browser is compatible with Canvas here.
