Part-time, in class Southbank Writer's Program in Surrey

Take your creative writing to the next level this summer

The Southbank Writer's Program is a part-time, three-month program for writers who are just starting to develop their work. Maybe you’re not showing your work to anyone, but you want to. Perhaps you belong to a creative writing group, but you’re looking for a more structured environment, or you want to develop your style. Whatever the case, if you’re ready to pursue your passion for writing, Southbank is for you.

It's a perfect opportunity to build your confidence as a writer in a diverse, supportive setting. Join us to finish your novel, turn your collection of poems or memoirs into a book, or publish an article or two. For many students who want to continue developing their craft, Southbank is an ideal foundation for the Writer's Studio, our one-year Creative Writing Certificate.

Hone your writing skills with published authors

Focusing on fiction, non-fiction, and poetry, you'll learn through creative writing courses, workshops, and an opportunity to read your work in public. You'll also work closely with an experienced writing mentor, both one-on-one and in a group setting.

Working in community with people who love the craft of writing as much as you do, prepare to hone your voice, find out who you are as a writer, sharpen your writing skills and, ultimately, share your story.

Study evenings and weekends—without driving into the city

Study one or two evenings each week plus a few hours on Saturday and skip the long commute. We’ve designed this program for writers who live in the Fraser Valley on the south bank of the Fraser River, but we welcome anyone who wants to learn at the beautiful SFU Surrey campus.
