Metro Vancouver Travel and Accommodation Advisory

If graduands and their guests are planning to travel to Metro Vancouver to attend SFU’s Convocation June 2026 ceremonies, we strongly encourage you to book accommodation and flights as early as possible.

Global soccer games are scheduled to begin in Vancouver shortly after our final ceremony. As a result, the region is expecting significantly increased demand for hotel rooms, short‑term rentals, and air travel in the days surrounding convocation. 

To help ensure a smooth and enjoyable visit during this exciting and busy time, please:

• Reserve accommodations early, as room availability may become limited closer to June.
• Book flights well in advance to secure the best possible travel options.
• Plan for increased traffic and crowds in and around major travel hubs and downtown Vancouver.
