Capture Your Commute. Instagram Photo/Video Contest 2018
Show us the people you meet, the restaurants you enjoy, the subway you take, or anything interesting you see on your way to work!
Contest Winners
Barcelona, Spain
I'm glad that my coworker took me to this cafe, especially since it's so close to the workplace! A game changer with the weather getting warmer😍 (Spain, Spring 2018 semester, FASS)
Bethune, France
The Grand-Place in Béthune, France. Walking around here was a bit like stepping back in time, because of the Flemish style buildings. The town was rebuilt after it was destroyed in WWI. In Fall 2016-Spring 2017, I worked here as a language assistant before returning to SFU to finish my French degree.

This building reminded me a lot of SFU.. the grey, the structure, and the number of people trying to find out where to go. @beedieabroad @sfu_coop-archive #beedieabroad #captureyourcommute

Meet Gustav. He’s South African, I met him during my orientation, and his favourite word is yea yea. He’s really cool, and not just because he has an iPhone X to take cool photos of me like the one you’re about to see soon but because he joins in on my “adventures.” Be like Gustav, I like Gustav.

California, United States
It has been a wild journey since the day I came over to the States for my first co-op. Really appreciate the chance that was given to me. It was a great adventure. I still remember the first day when I arrived, I was trying so hard to adapt to the new surrounding. It was tough and challenging. But I would like to thank my friends that have helped me along they way, and those who have brought me around @wengkeat575 @thejoshchin @halimpolar

Bethune, France
A sign I often passed on my way to work in Bethune, France. It was a pleasant reminder of home which was definitely welcome whenever I was feeling homesick. In Fall 2016-Spring 2017, I worked here as a language assistant before returning to SFU to finish my French degree.
Barcelona, Spain
As much as I like the Meditereanean/Catalan cuisine, I crave Korean rice and spices. There was a restaurant that served good Asian food, thank goodness. The taste helped me make it through my 9 month internship because it reminded me of home. While walking to work, I would often consider going there for dinner 🍚 (Spain, Spring 2018 semester, FASS)

Singapore
Every evening in Summer 2017 I would walk along the canal on my way home from work. The evening breeze was a relief from the sweltering Singapore heat. Some people even managed to exercise in the 30 degree weather! #fhs #captureyourcommute @sfu_coop-archive

This was taken near a 7-11 before we had a “school dinner” and some 36 year old whose been here for like 400 years kept on talking and nobody was interested. When I said bye to him with a fist bump he grabbed it like an apple. I used hand sanitizer after that. @sfu_coop-archive@beedieabroad #captureyourcommute #beedieabroad
Bethune, France
The beautiful Grand-Place in Bethune, France at night. To the left is a tall belfry tower that chimes every fifteen minutes or so. During the war, the belfry, or beffroi, was partially destroyed, but it’s since been reconstructed. In Fall 2016-Spring 2017, I worked here as a language assistant before returning to SFU to finish my French degree. #captureyourcommute #sfucoop-archive @sfu_coop-archive #photocontest#beffroi
Barcelona, Spain
I was on my way to have a cup of coffee with some teachers when we saw this mural of Barcelona. I could not not take a picture ♥️ A perfect photo to sum up my wonderful experience in this city (Spain, Spring 2018 semester, FASS)
Barcelona, Spain
I met two wonderful girls, that I now call my friends, during my internship. I was introduced to one of them through the school I worked at and the other by coincidence on the train. We've made some amazing memories together whether it was in the cafe, eating lunch/dinner, taking the kids to the park, going for a hike, or doing touristic things 💕🤗 (Spain, Spring 2018 semester, FASS)
Singapore
Who says office buildings have to be drab? On my way to my workplace in Singapore I passed some beautiful buildings like this. The sunshine helps!
Summer 2017, FHS. @sfu_coop-archive #captureyourcommute
Sigchos, Ecuador
Great place to run every morning before beginning work. Summer Co-op in Sigchos, Ecuador.

Here's to my partner in crime and the one I couldn't have ever survived without 🥂 What would I have done without another English language assistant in the school? (I think that sums up our experience, memories, and relationship 😏) I wish you all the best until we see each other again in Vancouver, London, or Barcelona!
