Chart Launch in Ontario

Celebrate  the community launch of the Brief Chronology of Chinese Canadian History: From Segregation to Integration.

April 12, 2011 was a great day of celebration the chart launch in Ontario. Richard Charles Lee Canada‐Hong Kong Library, University of Toronto, on behalf of the David Lam Centre of Simon Fraser University,  celebrated of the community launch of the Brief Chronology of Chinese Canadian History: From Segregation to Integration.

The Chronology is an overview of 222 years of the history of Chinese immigration, segregation, integration and contributions in Canada. The author of this chronology, David Chuenyan Lai, Professor Emeritus from the University of Victoria, is Canada’s foremost scholar and expert on Chinese Canadian history. Other honourable guests include Senator Vivienne Poy, and fellow members from the Chinese Canadian History Project of the David Lam Centre.

The chronology project, which has received wide support from the Government of Canada, foundations, community organizations, universities and private citizens, aims at educating school children and the Canadian general public on a facet of Canadian history that deserves great awareness and recognition.

Not until we can appreciate everyone's contribution to Canada's development and prosperity, can we truly understand the history of Canada.

The Richard Charles Lee Canada‐Hong Kong Library, and the Chinese Canadian History Project of the David Lam Centre, are honoured to host a reception for the launch of this significant educational document.
