Franklin D. & Helen K. Van Pykstra Graduate Scholarship
Terms of Reference
- The purpose of this award is to provide financial support for outstanding students, preferably to those who have a permanent disability, who are pursuing a graduate degree in the Faculty of Applied Sciences.
- One scholarship will be awarded each year subject to the availability of funds in the endowment.
- The criteria for this award are:
- demonstrated academic excellence at the undergraduate level and, if applicable, at the graduate level
- registration at Simon Fraser University in a graduate program in Applied Sciences
- promise of outstanding achievement at the graduate level with particular emphasis on intellectual ability, originality and ability in research
- preference will be given to physically disabled students, and/or to students in the Management and Systems Science Program.
- demonstrated academic excellence at the undergraduate level and, if applicable, at the graduate level
- The student must be nominated for this award by the Dean, Faculty of Applied Sciences.
- Application is made on the online Grad Awards, Application and Adjudication System (GA3) and must be accompanied by:
- copies of all post-secondary transcripts
- a brief personal statement addressing the aims of the scholarship
- a brief outline of the proposed research
- The completed nomination and all supporting documents must be received by the department of enrollment.
- The award will be made by the Dean of Graduate Studies on behalf of the Senate Graduate Awards Adjudication Committee.
