Anil Patel Graduate Award in Cryptocurrency and Blockchain Technology

Terms of Reference

  1. The purpose of the award is to provide funding to graduate students enrolled in the Beedie School of Business who have demonstrated an interest in cryptocurrency or blockchain technology.
  2. One award, valued at a minimum of $2,000, will be offered annually, in any term, to a graduate student who fulfills the following criteria
    a. is enrolled in a graduate program in the Beedie School of Business
    b. has demonstrated interest in cryptocurrency or blockchain technology
    c. who demonstrates excellence in one of the following three ways: 
        i. has demonstrated academic excellence at the graduate level (defined as a CGPA of 3.5 or 
           greater)
        ii. has a minimum GMAT score of 600 and minimum upper division (or final two year) CGPA of 
            3.0
        iii. has demonstrated excellent professional experience and accomplishments based on the 
            following:
            a. has a minimum of 4 years work experience in a leadership or management role, which 
                may include professional research experience
            b. has demonstrated experience and accomplishments relevant to leadership,
                entrepreneurship or innovation
            c. has a minimum upper division (or final two year) CGPA of 3.0
  3. This award may be held in conjunction with other awards made by Simon Fraser University or other agencies where permitted by those agencies
  4. Students may apply online on the graduate award system (GA3). The following documents must
    accompany the online application:
    a. a current curriculum vitae
    b. copies of post-secondary transcripts
    c. a one-page statement outlining the applicant's demonstrated interest in cryptocurrency or blockchain technology
    d. one letter of reference from an individual familiar with the applicant's demonstrated interest
    in cryptocurrency or blockchain technology
  5. If a suitable candidate is not identified, the award may be disbursed in a subsequent term or year.
  6. The award will be granted by the Dean and Associate Provost, Graduate and Postdoctoral Studies on behalf of the Graduate Awards Adjudication Committee, upon the nomination of the Associate Dean, Graduate Programs, Beedie School of Business.
