OUTtv Scholarship in Digital Media

Terms of Reference

  1. The purpose of this award is to recognize and provide financial support to a graduate student enrolled in the Master of Digital Media program offered at the Centre for Digital Media through the Faculty of Communication, Art and Technology.
  2. One award, usually valued at $5,000, will be granted annually to a student who fulfills the following criteria:
    1. has demonstrated academic excellence at the graduate level and or in the most recent degree program completed;
    2. is registered at Simon Fraser University in the Master of Digital Media program in the Faculty of Communication, Art, and Technology; and
    3. whose research explores areas in digital media related to the cultural, ethnic or gender-identity diversity of the LGBTQ2 community.
  3. This award may be held in conjunction with other awards made by Simon Fraser University or other agencies where permitted by those agencies.
  4. The application will be made using the online Grad Awards, Application and Adjudication System (GA3) and must include:
    1. copies of all post-secondary transcripts
    2. one letter of reference from a faculty member, or other individual, familiar with the applicant's work;
    3. a current curriculum vitae; and
    4. a short description of the student's MDM research project related to the LGBTQ2 community.
  5. If a suitable candidate is not identified, the award may be disbursed in a subsequent term or year.
  6. The award will be made by the Dean of Graduate Studies, on behalf of the Senate Graduate Awards Adjudication Committee, upon the nomination of the Director, Master of Digital Media program.
