Robert Hancock Dunham Memorial Graduate Entrance Scholarship in English

Terms of Reference

  1. The purpose of this award is to provide financial support for student(s) entering a graduate degree MA or PhD program in the Department of English.
  2. The Robert Hancock Dunham Memorial Graduate Scholarship in English is valued at the earned income from the endowment.
  3. The criteria for this award are:
    1. demonstrated academic excellence at the undergraduate level and, if applicable, at the graduate level
    2. registration at Simon Fraser University in a graduate program in the Department of English
    3. promise of outstanding achievement at the graduate level with particular emphasis on intellectual ability, originality and ability in research
  4. This award may be held in conjunction with other awards made by Simon Fraser University or other agencies where permitted by those agencies.
  5. The student must be nominated for this award by the Chair of the Department of English. The nomination should be made on the online Grad Awards, Application and Adjudication System (GA3) and must be accompanied by:
    1. a nomination letter
    2. copies of all postsecondary transcripts
    3. one letter of reference from a faculty member familiar with the nominee's work
  6. The award will be made by the Dean of Graduate Studies on behalf of the Senate Graduate Awards Adjudication Committee, and on the recommendation of the Chair of the Department of English.
