We're sharing the contest entries from our Photos of Home grad student competition.

Today's photos are from Bicram Rijal, Sociology & Anthropology, who writes:

Locally called "Boudhanath", this is a Buddhist temple located in Kathmandu, Nepal. It's a popular site for meditation and worship.

The Buddha's eyes on the top of the temple and pigeons on the ground blend perfectly to represent peace, tranquility and divinity. The different colours of the prayer flags around the temple symbolize the different colours of life.

I chose this photo because it brings me back to my home, friends, relatives, and many other people with whom I share a common language, cultural form, social suffering and politico-economic narrative, and makes me think about the loss of peace due to the current political situation in Nepal and elsewhere.

The photo below depicts the morning view of some of the highest mountains in the world from Poon Hill, a famous tourist destination in Nepal.
